What do you sell?
I am not fussy. I will sell anything, but my main line is collectable toys, such as Matchbox toys and model trains. I also have a number of books up for grabs.
Is selling on bidorbuy your business or your hobby?
What started off as just as a hobby to feed my collecting of Matchbox toys, has now grown and moved forward. I suppose you could call my bidorbuy presence a small part-time business. What with bidorbuy being easy to use and with the growing demand for my items, I seem to be spending more and more time having fun. Hopefully, if things keep growing the way they have been, I will be able to make this a full-time venture.
When did you start selling on bidorbuy?
I started selling in May 2006 under the username andretoys, but I’ve been with bidorbuy from the start, buying on my late wife’s user name. My late wife had a bidorbuy account which I used mainly for buying Matchbox. We did sell a few items back then, but I only really found out how easy it was when I opened my own account.
What first prompted you to sell on bidorbuy?
Being a Matchbox toy collector, I am always in search of new sources to feed my collecting passion. I quickly found that an online auction platform is the easiest way to go. I first sold on eBay. However – and I say this not only because I want to support the local market – I have found bidorbuy to be more user friendly and economical, in comparison with eBay.
What are the biggest benefits that you find selling on bidorbuy?
For the first time I found something that works. It’s not only a fantastic selling media, it’s my own portable showroom, and it’s something I can do from anywhere. I use my sales on bidorbuy to generate an income. This I then use to feed my own collecting passion as a Matchbox toy collector.
What sets your company or products apart from the rest?
I strive to give great service and my prices are relevant to the product.
How do you promote your products?
By giving the best service possible and by word of mouth.
What has been the biggest lesson you have learnt?
You can’t please everyone. No matter how hard you try to please people, there will always be somebody who gives you a hard time.
What advice would you give to sellers who are new to bidorbuy?
a) The description of items is very important.
b) Clear photographs are vital.
c) Answer questions that the buyers ask the seller as quickly as possible.
