What is it all about? Ross Skeate, the popular rugby player, is donating his time to anyone who “wins” him – this is, wins an exclusive and uninterrupted one on one lunch with him.
Besides being an exceptional sportsman, this “gentle giant” (2.01m, 114kg are his vital statistics), Ross is also an Ambassador for The Cancer Association of South Africa. With that background information, it is befitting that all the proceeds from the bidorbuy auction are going to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA), South Coast Region.
Those who know him say that Ross is also a fun-loving guy with a great sense of humour; that he has a weakness for facial hair; that he is an adept column writer, blogger and twitterati; and so mush more… And yes, you may even converse with Ross in French! (Ross, now a Sharks player, spent two years with the French Top 14 side, Toulon.)
This is what Ross says about what prompted him to put himself (that is, his time) on Celebrities for Charities auction:
“One of the most important things that we can do with ourselves and our time is to leave this world that much better than the way we found it. For me that’s meant getting involved with CANSA and helping them create awareness and educating around all cancers, male and female, that have touched so many of our lives in so many ways, including my own. I have rarely met a better group of people working hard to change things for the better and assist any cancer sufferers in becoming cancer survivors! This auction is just another step in me helping CANSA (all proceeds going to them) in any way that I can. All my best, Skeato.”
A big thank you to Ross Skeate for his generosity, to Union Sports for facilitating this auction, and to the Czar Restaurant in Durban for sponsoring the lunch for Ross and the winner!
The ball is in your court now. It is up to you to place big-hearted bids on this and other Celebrities for Charities auctions, to be held on bidorbuy from 18 to 28 July.
